A New Look for the Huon Valley Netball Club

On September 15 2018 the Huon Valley Netball Association held a Special General Meeting (SGM) to discuss the future of the club and a possible identity change for the teams who compete in the Southern Tasmanian Netball Association (STNA) Roster.

The club junior numbers have dropped quite significantly over the past 12 months as netball starts to compete with women’s footy, so the Executive Committee of the club thought if they could secure a sponsorship deal for a minimum of three years then they would consider a bright new dress in the Tassal colours to show their support to Tassal but to also give the club a new identity at STNA

There are already two teams as well as Huon Valley in the competition wearing Navy, Red and White so this will make the club stand out and it also shows the clubs commitment to Tassal who have sponsored the club for the past 5 years.

The Association colours will remain the Navy, Red and White for the Combined Australian Netball Competition and other representative carnivals. The new colours align with the Huon Valley Little Athletics Club who are also sponsored by Tassal, both clubs are looking to unite together to attend the Huon Show on the 17th November to promote their respective sports and it will also mean they can work together with fundraising and community grants.

The SGM was well represented with current Executive Committee, general committee and several life members in attendance. The vote was carried and the club are looking forward to a bright future as the Tassel Huon Valley Netball Club in the new club colours.

Harcourt’s Huon Valley have also committed to a three year deal with several Harcourt’s employees playing and coaching for the club. Nick Bond said “I am happy to support a long standing community club and I see the value of what the club does for the youth in the community”

The club will hold their 2019 Season Selections on Sunday November 18, 2018 starting with under 11’s and 13’s at 10am, 15’s and 17’s at 11am and 21 & under and ladies from midday.

The club wish to thank Helen and Scott Turnbull for hosting the dinner and providing excellent service to the players, parents and coaches.
